It's NAIDOC Week!

Did you know our passport uses elements from Indigenous art in its design?

For example, the watermark in the passport’s pages, which helps prevent counterfeiting, is from 'Yumari' (1981), a painting by the renowned late Aboriginal artist, Uta Uta Tjangala.

The image shows the watermark design from the R Series passport. On the left and right-hand sides are a series of interlocking circles based on the painting, 'Yumari', (1981).

The watermark is just one of the many security features built into the passport’s design.

Features like these make Australia’s passport one of the world’s most secure and beautiful travel documents. Find out more: Australian passport design.
