Concurrent passports

Getting a concurrent passport

A concurrent passport is an additional passport. In certain cases, we may issue you an additional passport if you need to use 2 passports at once.

A concurrent passport costs the same as a standard passport but is only valid for up to 3 years.

You can apply for a concurrent passport if you can show us one of the following:

  • your visa wait times will cause a significant travel delay with only one passport
  • a destination country won’t accept a passport showing evidence of travel to a third country
  • you need an additional passport due to exceptional circumstances.

To apply, you’ll need to complete a  B-15 form and lodge it with your passport application.

Concurrent passport applications are also eligible for faster processing. See Urgent travel.

Business-related travel

If your concurrent passport is for business-related travel, your employer must:

  • write a cover letter to support your application
  • complete Section B of your B-15 concurrent passport form.

If you don’t qualify for a concurrent passport, your application fee is generally not refundable. If you disagree with the decision not to refund, you can request a  review of that decision.
